Emre Ayyıldız, General Manager of Garenta and ikinciyeni.com, stated that they were pleased to be the main sponsor of the summit and provided information on the automotive sector. Ayıldız explained the benefits of vehicle and travel sharing. Ayyıldız said that he company has invested in such digital applications and explained the digital brands they developed. DOW Turkey, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India Public Relations Director Howard Chase, said that businesses and governments need to develop dialogue and added that this would increase the success of in this way. Pointing out to the new opportunities brought about by the digital transformation, Chase explained that this change developed along with the change of mentality, and this is the main challenge was this issue. Chase said, Turkey has has a very important role to play in overcoming problems such as global warming and deforestation.
In the panel "New Energy Balances" sponsored by SOCAR, the radical transformation of the global energy industry, technological and environmental dynamics were discussed. In the panel, Turkey´s, which is located in a strategic position among many energy consumers and suppliers in the world and the global developments were discussed.
Moderated by Engie Energy Independent Board Member Mithat Rende, panels were attended by the President of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, the Akkök Holding CEO Ahmet Fourth and STAR Refinery General Manager Mesut Ilter.
Fatih Birol, the Executive director of the International Energy Agency, stated that with the production of electric cars in the world, raised the question us "Has the time of oil ended?", but these two issues were not related to each other. Birol said that a great part of the oil consumption in the world is in the petrochemical, transportation and aerospace sectors. He explained that the petrochemical sector is in many areas of our life. "At least we will live together more oil several decades," said Birol. Akkök Holding CEO Ahmet Dördüncü, stated that the security of energy supply in Turkey, has successfully transfered to the private sector, and pointed out the invesment of 110 billion dollars to the sector. Indicating that there is a supply close to 90 thousand megawatts in Turkey, Dördüncü said that there is no energy supply problem in Turkey. Dördüncü said that the financing from the foreign energy companies in Turkey has created balance sheet troubles in the industry and added that the liberalization and can overcome this problem by increasing competitiveness, and asked for the creation of an attractive environment for investors.
STAR Refinery General Manager Mesut Ilter, said that the increase in primary energy consumption along with growth in Turkey, but pointed out the inadequate renewable energy proportion in the energy sector for fossil fuel imports made the market open to the outside of price fluctuations. Ilter said that the annual 42 million tons of petroleum product consumption of Turkey and added SOCAR Turkey has channeled into investment to reduce external dependence. Stating that Star Rafinery has reduced imports by producing five million tons of diesel annually, İlter said that they have made progress in the petrochemical sector.
Ilter said that the biggest problem to face is the of storage of energy, noting that the world has to use fossil fuels by 2050´s, and that there should be a balance between emission constraints and energy needs.
